Homemade Treatments for Damaged Hair

If your hair is damaged then it may look dry and frizzy. Damaged hair is usually occurred from heat exposure and overuse of chemicals for processing. Eggs, yogurt and honey are considered as a tasty breakfast but they can be used as hair treatment ingredients. These things are affordable and natural ones. Before going to hair specialist, you can use this natural thing to repair your hair without any cost. Here i have given some tips to repair damaged hair for different types of hair.

For All Hair Types

The egg yolk is rich in fats and proteins and it is naturally moisturizing. The egg white contains bacteria eating enzymes and it removes unwanted oils. For normal hair you can use entire egg to condition your hair. For oily hair use egg whites only. For dry and brittle hair use egg yolks only to moisturize. Use half cup of egg mixture, it is appropriate for you to apply clean, damp hair. If the egg mixture is not enough to coat your scalp and hair then use more as needed. Leave it for 20 minutes and rinse with cool water and apply shampoo on your hair. Whole egg and yolks can be applied once a month and egg whites can be applied every two weeks.

For Dull Hair

Massage your hair with 1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt and let it for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Then apply shampoo on your hair as you normally would. This treatment can be applied for every week.


For Itchy Scalp

Mix 2 Table spoon of fresh lemon juice and 2 Table spoon of olive oil with 2 Table spoon of water. Massage this mixture into your damp scalp. Let it for 20 minutes and then rinse it and shampoo your hair. This treatment must be applied every week.

For Dry or Sun Damaged Hair

Massage your hair with 1/2 cup of honey and let sit for 20 minutes. Then rinse your hair with warm water and you can also add 1 to 2 Table spoon of olive oil to loosen the honey for easier application. For an extremely sun damaged hair mixing honey with 1 to 2 Table spoon of a protein rich ingredients like avocado or egg yolk, which will helps the keratin protein bonds from UV rays attack. This treatment should be applied once in a month.

For Oily or Greasy Hair

Pour 1 Table spoon of cornmeal or cornstarch into an empty salt or pepper shaker and sprinkle into your hair and scalp until you have used it all. After 10 minutes use a hairbrush to completely brush it out and this treatment can be applied for every other day.

 For Frizzy Hair

To Use: Mash up half an avocado and massage into clean, damp hair. Let sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with water. Amp up moisturizing power by combining mashed avocado with 1 to 2 Tbsp of a hydrating ingredient, like sour cream, egg yolks or mayonnaise. Treatment can be applied every two weeks.
